When I think about a wholesome Canadian Winter, my brain goes directly to my memories in Montreal. It may not be the ideal place a tourist or traveller would go if they want to experience the bone crushing cold or snow covered mountains or having their ankles knee deep in snow (because it usually turns into brown slush) but everything I learnt about the Winter I learnt here, not to mention how much grit Canadians have (I mean igloo fest!? c’mon!!).
My favourite memory was before the pandemic and I spent the night in Barfly on Valentines day. I was sitting at the bar and a girl called Aivy asked me if I wanted to dance with her. An unexpected live band was playing and the evening escalated to the point where we started bouncing on the stage with them. They did a Green Day cover of brainstew and the moment they sang ''my mouth is dry, my face is numb'' everybody in the bar started screaming and THIS is how perfectly I would describe what it feels like to experience a wholesome Canadian Winter and I wouldn't want it any other way.
